Mark your Calendar and don't miss the Community Event of the Year at the Vancouver Island Technology Park — June 12, 2010.

The Canary Derby provides an opportunity for Vancouver Island Companies to join forces with the Canary Foundation and BC Cancer Foundation to help support early detection of cancer research within BC.

Each team designs, builds and races a soapbox car and organizes their own fundraising activities. Register now for the 5th Annual Victoria Derby.

Support the Early Detection of Cancer by participating and fundraising to support local cancer researchers.

The Victoria Derby is comprised of two race categories:

  1. Canary Speed: Teams are judged on speed
  2. Canary Style: Teams will negotiate a FUN obstacle course and will be judged on three criteria: — Creativity and showmanship — Corporate participation — Successful completion of the obstacle course

And, as always, soapboxes must be human powered meaning no engines or external energy sources allowed.

Based on feedback from last year, we have added emphasis on Canary Style.

Past participants said:

"We don't have the time or resources to be competitive in the race category." Now you don't have to race.

"We don't have a car." Now you can refurbish a old speed car or get creative and make the points up with showmanship and participation.

"We want to get more of the company involved." Here is your chance to shine.
