Canary Foundation of Canada

Canary Foundation has always sought the best researchers and has taken steps to ensure the most expedient accomplishment of its mission. Naturally then Canary transcended international borders relatively soon after its founding in 2004. Dr. Brad Nelson of the British Columbia Cancer Agency was the first Canadian researcher to receive funding through the Canary Foundation Ovarian Cancer Research Program. His lab at the BC Cancer Agency's Trev and Joyce Deeley Research Centre has become a key component of all four Canary cancer research programs. The Canary science team additionally has funded research from Princess Maragret Hospital in Toronto and the University of British Columbia in Vancouver.

Events

Canary Derby

The Canary Derby provides an opportunity for the Vancouver Island and Vancouver Technology Community to join forces with the Canary Foundation and BC Cancer Foundation to help support early detection of cancer research within BC. The first Canary Derby took place in 2006 in Victoria and a second venue was added in Vancouver in 2008.

The 2010 Victoria Derby will be held at the Vancouver Island Technology Park — June 12, 2010 and the 2010 Vancouver Derby will be at Deer Lake Park in Burnaby — September 25, 2010.
